Job Search
Allowance helps unemployed people financially while they're looking for work.
To get Job
Search Allowance you must be:
unemployed, capable of
undertaking, available for and actively seeking work
over 18 years but under Age
Pension age and registered at the CES as unemployed for less than 12 months, OR
under 18 and in receipt of
Job Search Allowance as at
1.1.95.
Youth Training Allowance
payable if off Job Search Allowance for more than 6 weeks
willing to enter into a Job
Search Allowance Agreement if required
an Australian resident
Social Security
pays your Job Search Allowance every two weeks.
The amount
depends on:
your age;
if you're single or have a
partner;
if you have children; and
if you have any other
income.
Job search allowance takes the place of
income and so is included in assessable as income according to ordinary
concepts of income
